KAMĪ

KAMĪ

London, UK

Artist, DJ, Presenter, Producer

Alt-electronic artist Kamī captures the sublime and psychedelic elements of the floating world and channels them through progressive and at times dark soundscapes, creating abstract and transcendental frequencies. Pulling directly from the subconscious, her music explores themes ranging from grief to ancestral worship to eco-feminism and is offered as a ‘prayer to the 神 (kami - divine spirits/source of energy)’.

Named after the Japanese word for wolf, ŌKAMI is Kamī's DJ side project; a space where she channels her fundamental belief that sound is a sacred vessel through which marginalised communities can connect and find true liberation.

Having begun her journey as a co-host and selector on the ESEA Sisters Voices Radio show, her mixes have been featured on the likes of NTS, Foundation FM, Radio Alhara, Netil Radio and Radio1001. A vibrant performer, she has found her footing spinning across the UK at Coalesce Festival, The Cause, Body Movements, Planet Wax and with Half East Records, Amen Gyaldem, Waxed Collective and Sisu Crew.
